About Image Formats and Sizes

This site provides stable URLs and easy download links for multiple formats and sizes of Salem's logos.

But which is best? That depends upon your specific use.

If you're using it in an email or website, you'll likely want a Raster Graphic, size SM or MD; often you can use the URL rather than downloading and uploading a copy.

If you're using it in a PowerPoint or Google Slide, you may want a higher resolution image, likely the LG size.

Raster Graphics

  • PNG
  • JPG
  • WEBP

Optimal for on-screen use, raster graphics use a grid of pixels. Small versions will load quicker than larger images but will become pixelated, giving you a fuzzy or chunky looking image.

High resolution raster graphics can print well but low resolution graphics (less than 1,000 pixels on the longer edge) will produce poor, fuzzy results.

PNG Portable Network Graphic

Well known format: excellent resolution, small file size, transparent background; virtually all programs will accept.

JPG Joint Photographic Experts Group

Old format: good resolution, medium to large file size, white background; all programs will accept.

WEBP

Modern format: good resolution, small to medium file size, transparent background; some programs will not accept.

Optimal for print use, vector graphics use shapes and keep their crisp lines at every size and when printed.

SVG Scalable Vector Graphic

Modern format: perfect resolution, small file size, transparent background; can be used by websites, some programs will accept.

Older format: perfect resolution vector with raster embedded, large file size, transparent background; many programs will accept.

PDF Portable Document Format

Older format: perfect resolution, small file size, transparent background; many programs will accept.
